Leading Health & Safety at Work (HSC/IOD)In 2006 the Health and Safety Commission (HSC) determined that more needed to be done to get the health and safety message over at board level and to use that as a key part of maintaining and improving the health and safety performance of organisations. This resulted in the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) working with the Institute Of Directors (IOD) to produce a new guidance document issued in October 2007 – “Leading Health & Safety at Work”. This new guidance issued jointly by the IOD and the HSC replaces the previous official guidance to directors on responsibilities for health and safety issued by the HSC in 2001.
